Tuolumne County is an American Viticultural Area with a warm climate and long growing season, known for producing rustic, full-bodied red wines. Some of the best come from Inner Sanctum Cellars in Sonora, just a hop and a skip from Columbia State Park. Owners Pete and Karen Luckhardt will be serving up a lovely selection of their full-bodied reds as well as their absolutely delightful sparkling Bubbly in The Taste of Tuolumne Adult Craft Beverage showcase.
Pete and Karen have been long time residents of Tuolumne. They met while working for the US Forest Service in 1992. Karen was in Human Resources and Pete was a Firefighter. They married in 1998 after Pete landed his career job of working for the City of Tracy Fire Department and soon after was promoted to Fire Captain. After 28 years of service, Pete retired and the two built their home in East Sonora. Karen retired in 2004 from the USFS after 27 years.
With the help of a few well-connected friends in the "wine scene", Pete and Karen decided to start a small wine label called "Inner Sanctum Cellars". The rest is history. Their beautiful venue draws people in and brings them back, and their wines have won more than 200 awards!
Adult Beverage Showcase tickets will be on sale for $8 (with valid ID) at the 49er Festival Cashiers Shack on September 21, and lovingly poured by the little old winemakers themselves at the Inner Sanctum Cellars booth.
