In for a Penny? Festival Volunteers Make it Happen

Whether you invest a few hours on Festival Day, a few days helping set it all up, or a few hundred hours pulling it all together, there’s something kind of special about being a 49er Festival volunteer. This year, more than seventy people put their talents and toils to the test to produce a terrific end-of-season event…the forty-sixth 49er Festival to date.

Bankers, developers, operations managers, teachers, engineers, architects, insurance agents, realtors, administrators, technicians, you-name-it…our Festival volunteers come from all walks of life. What drives these community-minded folks to put their blood, sweat, and tears into the 49er Festival every year? It’s certainly not the great financial rewards or the stock options…neither exist for this venture. For some, it’s a sense of duty; for others, applying their personal skills is a source of pride and achievement. Still others do it for the sheer fun.

Whatever it is, it’s all really quite extraordinary when you think about it. If you didn’t volunteer for the 49er Festival, just ask someone who did. We thank you all from the bottoms of our hearts…the 2024 49er Festival and Taste of Tuolumne wouldn’t have been the same without you.

Our fantastic volunteers are too numerous to list here, but check them out at yosemitechamber.org/49er-festival/volunteers.
