Whoa Nellie! What’s this? It’s a fresh and exciting new approach to celebrating the incredible range of talent right here in Tuolumne County, that’s what. It’s about celebrating our history and honoring those who were here when gold was discovered in 1849, and the creation of our communities that followed. It’s about the adventurers and entrepreneurs who came, settled, and brought their families here, along with their food, music, art, skills, and cultures. Welcome to the Taste of Tuolumne!
What’s new? Just wait til you experience The Taste of Tuolumne Food Showcase. For just $1 a taste, you’ll savor some of the best ethnic and American food this county has to offer. Our Taste of Tuolumne chefs, many of whom are using old country recipes handed down through the family, are deciding which special taste to feature at this premier event. And, we’re bringing back our three-time amateur Chili Cook-Off champions, Wayne & Kathy Miller, to serve up tastes of Wayne’s awesome chili right there next to the pros. But there’s no competition this year…every one of our 2024 Taste of Tuolumne chefs is a winner. Adult beverages will be poured by everyone’s favorite local craft beverage producers at last year’s inflation-free price of $8.
What’s not? All the best things about the 49er Festival will be back, and even better, on September 21. Kicking off with the flyover and the Main Street Parade, the 49er Festival’s most popular events continue throughout the day–the Costume contest, Beard & Mustache contest, an exciting Live Auction line-up, another prize-packed Raffle hosted by ROOFBB, live music featuring Leilani & The Distractions, and an extra-special, extra-awesome Kids Adventure Zone. Don’t forget the marketplace–shop out local artisans and makers, take time to thank the caretakers of our forests and wilderness as well as our homes and loved ones, and of course, get your fill of cotton candy, ice cream, and other fair food.
