It’s the most exciting thing we’ve ever offered in the 49er Festival Kids Adventure Zone. A chance for your child (grandchild, niece, nephew…) between 8-14 years old to participate in a real Olympic-like shooting competition, officiated by our Grand Marshal, Olympic Silver Medalist, and Hometown Hero, US Army SSgt. Sagen Maddalena!
Hosted by Groveland Highlanders 4H, where Sagen Maddalena began her shooting career, the Safe Shooting Games are going to be a blast (literally) with the inspirational guidance of a young, female Olympic silver medalist who started shooting at a similar age. Twenty competitors each in two age groups (8-10, 11-14) will compete for medals in four shooting events: NERF, Water, Marshmallow, and Paintball (senior group only).
Was your child at Tenaya Elementary School or Tioga High School when Sagen Maddalena addressed them in 2021 following the Tokyo Olympics? If so, you know that Sagen is not only a world-class marksman, but a passionate, disciplined, caring role model for our next generations.
Don’t miss the opportunity for your favorite kid to have some fun target-shooting with one of the top Olympic marksmen in the world. Entry fees are $5 per child/per event, up to two events per child. 100% of the Safe Shooting Games entry fees will benefit the Downtown Groveland Beautification Project.

PS: Rumor has it that SSgt Maddalena will face off against local adult sharpshooters in all four events in a friendly US Army v. Locals competition following the Safe Shooting Games. Watch for news on what’s sure to be a seriously hilarious event.
